Math: 10/15/07

Solve the word problem.  Use your strategies like drawing a picture and writing a number sentence.

Challenge:  After you solve the problem, try to come up with your own addition word problem with three addends, write it down, and show how you solved it.

A squirrel had 6 acorns stored away.  He found 2 acorns by the tree and 7 acorns on the ground.  How many total acorns does he have?

Making Words: 10/16/07

Write about 10 words in the –ock family.

Wednesday

Reading: 10/17/07

Read a make-believe book on your own or with your parents.  When and where does the story take place?  What are some clues to the setting?  Don’t forget to write the title and author.

Example: I read Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert.  The story takes place outside in the morning.  In the pictures, there are lots of plants and birds.  In the story, it says the cat is out in the morning.
