The life and story of Lauri McKay!
I was born in Rockford, Illinois and then quickly moved to Minnesota and remained there for 18 years. I attended Moorhead State University and North Dakota State University for two years...yes! Good 'ol Fargo, North Dakota. I then decided to move towards a warmer climate, leading me to San Diego, California!! What a great eight years! Being outdoors is my true passion; hiking, surfing, skiing, and the beach.
My family transferred to Dallas several years ago and living apart was difficult. I eventually found myself visiting Dallas quite often so moving here was extremely easy.
I have enjoyed working for HPISD for three years. My background consists of 8th – 4th grade. I initially began teaching fourth grade here at University Park and enjoyed it very much for two years. This year as the librarian has brought on many new challenges and experiences that I am very grateful for. Working with the entire staff, parents, and students is a true blessing.
