Message from the President

Great things are happening at UP!  Last fall our school was named a Department of Education NCLB – National Blue Ribbon School!  Under the fabulous direction of our principal, Dr. Lynda Carter, we will continue to excel and maintain our exemplary reputation in the education community.  We are so fortunate to have such a committed faculty bringing the best to our children.  We truly believe that our school’s strength is the result of engaged learning, active parent involvement and the work of dedicated teaching professionals.

Through the generous support of the PTA, Dad’s Club and UP Preschool Association (UPPA), many exciting enhancements are being added to our classrooms.  The PTA raises necessary dollars through various fundraising activities throughout the year.  These funds are then used to equip our faculty and students with the resources they need to excel in the classroom.  Within the last year, all grade level classrooms have been equipped with the latest technology – our Classroom of the Future (COF).  Each COF includes a Promethean Activ Board with Activ Studio or Activ Primary, document camera, data projector, Dell teacher laptop and speakers.  The children are extremely engaged in their learning involving this new technology.

I encourage you to actively participate in any of these wonderful parent organizations related to our school:  Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Dad’s Club, UP Preschool Association (UPPA), Park Cities Learning Disabilities Association (PCLDA), Park Cities Talented and Gifted (PC TAG), HP Arts.  These are just some of the organizations that contribute to and enhance the academic excellence we enjoy at UP.  These organizations and their members generously donate both time and money to our school.

This year our theme is “Partner UP for a Bright Future!”  We hope you will choose to “partner UP” with us in our journey toward academic excellence.  There are many ways you may choose to commit your time, talents and resources to help make this a great year at our school.  I look forward to our partnership.  Let’s make this a wonderful year of learning for our children!
