About Mrs. Sevilla

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi where I graduated from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi with BFA in Music Education.  Upon graduating I began my journey teaching high school and middle school choir for two years with Dallas ISD. After a couple of years, I moved back to Corpus Christi where I started my elementary music experience with CCISD.  While teaching, I returned to school and received my Master of Science in Bilingual Education. As a result of this degree, I had the honor of opening a new school with an emphasis in teaching music within a dual language setting. After several years working with CCISD, I moved to San Antonio and taught music in a partial immersion school for three years with Northside ISD.  Soon thereafter, I opened a new school in North East ISD where I developed a solid music program for eight years. In the summer of 2013, I moved back to the Dallas area, where I first began my music education career.   I am beginning my 11th year here at University Park Elementary where I am honored to serve the Highland Park community with an amazing group of educators.

I have been blessed by adopting my fabulous furry friend, Tilly Mae (a border collie/lab mix).  We are both spoiled by someone who loves us, my husband, David. Between my native Texas pride and his native Chicago pride, we continuously challenge each other as to which city/state is best…

Music class is a combination of so many concepts tied into one lesson.  From playing instruments, creating movements that reflect songs they write, adding instrumentation to children’s books, sight-reading music, learning music games and incorporating music apps, I am privileged to have the opportunity to share those concepts with our amazing UP Students.

I look forward to seeing all of you and your children this upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
