Meet Mrs. Roush

Welcome to fourth grade! I am so excited to be a part of the growth and learning that will take place in your child this year.

Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, I taught third grade for three years and am in my ninth year of teaching fourth grade at UP. I graduated high school in Bixby, Oklahoma, attended college at the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, and have a Masters Degree in Educational Technology Leadership. I had a destination wedding this summer and married a wonderful man named Barrett who had the pleasure of inheriting my adorable Chihuahua, Mookie. There are many Saturdays that we can be found cheering on the Sooners (Go OU!!) in Norman. Also, I am often spotted enjoying all of the fabulous shopping and restaurants that Dallas has to offer.

Though I love these things, teaching is my passion.  I truly love walking into my classroom each day to find smiles, hugs, and more joy than you can imagine.  I think I have the best job in the world! I embrace professional development, laugh often, and work hard to meet the needs of both the curriculum and the students.  I want all children to recognize their own unique intelligence, learn how to think as well as question, and develop skills in working with others. My priority is to provide a safe and inviting environment that allows me to inspire, motivate, encourage and instill a love of learning in each of my students.

I am looking forward to a great year with you!

21 Day Challenge

The 21 Day Challenge is a program put on by Medical City Dallas and NBC 5 to promote healthy snacking, specifically for 21 days in hopes of creating a habit of good snacking choices.

The 21 Day Challenge requires 4 steps:

  1. Register/create an account
  2. Each day for 21 straight days create a healthy snack
  3. Each day, write down your snack
  4. Two weeks after completing the challenge, use a “secret code” and snacking log to complete a survey

The website is www.kids-teaching-kids.com and this is where you register and find some really great links. My favorite is the “Healthy Snack Finder” where you can type in an ingredient that you like and a list of recipes comes up containing that ingredient. They also provide recipes for special dietary needs :)

Please refer any questions to the PE coaches.

These sweet boys helped take our garden goods to the North Texas Food Bank to help those less fortunate.
A BIG thank you to Mrs. Johnson and all of the garden volunteers this semester! What a beautiful turnout!! Enjoy the pictures!
