About Miss Lauren Golman

Welcome to fourth grade! I am looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year!  This year will be my 22nd year teaching and my 16th year at UP. Born and raised in Dallas,Texas, I attended school in Richardson Independent School District and graduated from J.J. Pearce High School. After high school, I went to the University of Texas at Austin where I studied general and special education. Hook ‘Em Horns! Several years later, I attended SMU for graduate school where my focus was literacy and gifted education. I hold Texas educator certifications in the areas of general education, ESL, special education, Master Reading Teacher, and gifted education. I am also an ABYDOS writing trainer in the state of Texas. Last, but not least, I was voted by my peers as UP’s Teacher of the Year during the 2011-2012 school year. Representing UP and my peers was a great honor I’ll always cherish.

When I’m not working, I’m happiest spending time with my family, dog, and friends. My dog, Patches, is 17 years old. He means the world to me. I have two nephews, Griffin (8) and Jagger (7). Being their aunt brings me endless joy.

My teaching philosophy comes from the combination of the various degrees and certifications I have earned, my personal experiences as a student and teacher, excellent professional development opportunities I have attended, and my continued passion and dedication to grow and evolve as an educator. Teaching truly is a work of heart, and I couldn't ask for a better place to share my heart than with the UP Panthers.
