About Mrs. Myers

Welcome to TAG!  I am excited to begin my fourth year as the UP TAG Specialist.  My journey in HPISD began as a Bradfield Elementary Fourth Grade teacher, and prior to that experience I taught in Plano ISD in both fourth grade and fifth grade classrooms. Graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor Degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master Degree in Elementary Education, I quickly fell in love with extending the learning of my TAG students in the regular education classroom through differentiation practices. I followed this passion to learn more about how to challenge my students every moment of the day through the SMU Gifted/Talented Endorsement Program.  That passion has become my role at UP which is to seek to open up opportunities for a challenging learning environment every moment of every day.

This summer has been quite eventful as my family welcomed our new baby girl, Merritt.  Her big brother, Charlie, is overjoyed with his new role and proudly parades his baby sister in and out of his school.  My husband and I aren’t sleeping much yet, but we are filled with love and all the baby cuddles we can handle.

I am excited to start this school year and meet the many new faces of my school family.  Every student holds a special place in my heart and I strive to make every child feel loved and supported in the TAG classroom.  I believe this makes taking risks in learning and significant growth possible. I look forward to partnering with you to build a challenging yet supportive environment that invites your child to grasp at opportunities to make great strides in learning.

World Peace Game- Master Class

Hi TAG families,

I have been given the opportunity through PC-TAG grants to attend a master class all next week to become a facilitator for the World Peace Game.  This is an exciting moment because I have been interested in this curriculum for our explorations classes since I first heard about it 3 years ago at a TAGT conference.  I am leaving detailed plans with Ms. Ruthann Funderburk so your children will be right on track with plans while I am gone.  Please feel free to read more about this exciting opportunity at https://worldpeacegame.org/.  Also, thank you for supporting PC-TAG which makes these learning opportunities possible.

3rd grade Explorations Wild Card Wednesday Lunch

Hi everyone,

This coming Wildcard Wednesday lunch (2/19) is designed by our third grade TAG Explorations class.  We met with our HPISD food services coordinator, Lynn Pritchard, and worked with Farmer Kim in the garden to supply Ms. Tonia with ingredients and the recipes for a very special meal.  We hope you will consider eating at school on Wednesday to enjoy this amazing meal especially designed to be part of a heart healthy diet!

Thank you!

What a nice surprise during testing week to discover it was my half birthday!  I can't believe I got a little gift from the TAG families!  You all are so thoughtful.  Thank you for making me feel so appreciated each and every day.

No TAG classes next week

Hi parents,

There will be no TAG classes next week due to 2-4th grade TAG testing.  Students will be busily working with their homeroom classes, and we will pick right up where we left off when I see them again the following week.

Thank you!

Help needed!

Does anyone have a connection to get cheap/free screen printing done for the 3rd grade TAG Explorations class.  We would like to design sweatbands to sell to raise money for the American Heart Association.  We would like 100% of the proceeds to go toward our fundraising so any leads for great connections for printing would be very helpful!  Please email me for any leads or tips!  Thank you!  [email protected]
