History

University Park Elementary School opened in 1928 to serve the growing number of families moving into the City of University Park. As Highland Park ISD continued to expand during the 1920s, the new campus helped relieve overcrowding at Armstrong School and provided educational opportunities closer to home for neighborhood students.

The school has long been recognized for its strong academic foundation, active parent involvement, and close connection to the University Park community. Over the years, generations of Panthers have benefited from a tradition of excellence supported by dedicated educators, engaged families, and a commitment to student success.

As part of the 2015 Bond Program, University Park Elementary was rebuilt to provide modern learning environments, enhanced safety and security features, and flexible instructional spaces designed to support the needs of today's learners. The new campus opened in 2018 and continues to serve students while honoring the legacy of the original school.
