About Ms. Ahlfinger

Greetings! This is my third year with Highland Park ISD, and my first year at University Park Elementary, and what a great year it’s going to be! Here's a little snippet about me. I grew up in Richardson, Texas. I went to Kilgore College, then finished my undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas in Austin. I obtained my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. I began my career working at a speech therapy clinic in Dallas for two years. Before joining the UP family, I served as the Speech-Language Pathologist at MIS and HPMS, working with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. I am excited to now be working with your Kindergarten and 1st grade students!

I am engaged, and we are getting married next summer in San Diego, California! My fiance and I love to travel. The west coast has a special place in our hearts, but we especially love travelling to South America, where we have recently ventured to Peru and Colombia. After work, I enjoy “walking and talking” with my friends on the Katy Trail and around White Rock Lake. I also love going to Core Power Yoga! My enthusiasm to workout stems from my love for dance. I danced at a studio in Richardson as a child and danced on my high school drill team, then I went on to become a Kilgore College Rangerette, a Roustabout at UT, and a Dallas Stars Ice Girl. I now get to spread my love for dance as a dance teacher! I don’t have any pets or children of my own, but I frequently love on our family’s pets and children, especially Wilson doggie and my twin brother’s son, my cutie pie nephew, Zane! Both of them are featured in my pictures below.

I am thrilled to be at UP, and excited to learn the unique talents and communication needs of all of my students.   I look forward to supporting them by providing necessary speech and language strategies that will help make him or her more successful. I am also energized about building relationships with my new colleagues!
