Meet Mrs. Roush

Welcome to fourth grade! I am so excited to be a part of the growth and learning that will take place in your child this year.
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, I taught third grade for three years and am in my tenth year of teaching fourth grade at UP. I graduated high school in Bixby, Oklahoma, attended college at the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, and have a Masters Degree in Educational Technology Leadership. This summer, I celebrated my one year anniversary with my husband, Barrett. We have an adorable Chihuahua named Mookie who loves being the center of our attention. There are many Saturdays that we can be found cheering on the Sooners (Go OU!!) in Norman. I am also often spotted enjoying all of the fabulous shopping and restaurants that Dallas has to offer.
Though I love these things, teaching is my passion. I truly love walking into my classroom each day to find smiles, hugs, and more joy than you can imagine. I think I have the best job in the world! I embrace professional development, laugh often, and work hard to meet the needs of both the curriculum and the students. I want all children to recognize their own unique intelligence, learn how to think as well as question, and develop skills in working with others. My priority is to provide a safe and inviting environment that allows me to inspire, motivate, encourage and instill a love of learning in each of my students.
I am looking forward to a great year with you!

Field Trip on Thursday, Oct. 5

The Fourth Grade will be taking a special Fine Arts field trip on Thursday, October 5, 2017.  We will be going to the Meyerson Center for a Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert and will tour the Crow Collection of Asian Art Museum and the Nasher Sculpture Museum.  Classroom dues have already paid our entry fees.

This is a very exciting and special school day for our students.  Please remember to dress your child appropriately and according to the weather - students will be outdoors during part of their visit to the Nasher Sculpture Museum and lunch. No athletic shorts or warm up pants, please!  Students should dress similar to picture day; however, please make sure your child wears comfortable shoes.  They will also be doing a movement activity in addition to the concert and museum tours; therefore, tennis shoes will be fine.

We will depart University Park Elementary by bus at 9:20 AM, and will return by 2:00 PM.

Students will also need to bring a disposable sack lunch, including a drink, with their name clearly written on it.  There is nothing available for purchase during the day, so your child will not need money, purses, cameras or anything else.  Chaperones for this field trip have already been notified.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any additional adults.

We are looking forward to a fabulous day!
