About Ms. Cornett

Hello UP Panthers! My name is Laura Cornett and I am thrilled to be teaching second grade. This is my 14th year of teaching at UP! I grew up in Dallas and graduated from Baylor University and received my Masters in Education from Texas A&M (Commerce).

I have two daughters, both of whom are UP Panthers and HP Scots! My oldest daughter, Alex (HP '15) is an OR Nurse at Baylor Hospital-Dallas. My youngest daughter, Chloe (HP '16) is an attorney in Dallas. I am a huge book lover! I love reading, weekends at the lake with family (and our dogs Weezer and Betty) and spending time with my daughters, which usually revolves around shopping.

I believe each child has special gifts and a unique way of learning. It is my job to meet each student where they are on their learning journey, helping them grow and development on a path that is best for them. I look forward to a wonderful year getting to know each student who enters Room 221….Where Learning is FUN!
