About Mrs. Williams
Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Lauren Williams, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I was born in Dallas and raised in a small town in Louisiana. I attended Baylor University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Science. Having always wanted to be a teacher, after college I decided to enroll in an alternative certification program. I began my teaching career here at U.P. teaching 2nd grade. In 2016, I received my Master's Degree in Reading. I currently hold certifications in Early Childhood-6th grade, ESL, Reading Specialist, and Master Reading Teacher. This will be my 7th year at U.P.
My husband, Matt, and I have a 4 1/2 year old beagle named Piper and are getting a beagle puppy at the end of August named Sitka. In my free time, I enjoy getting together with family and friends, cooking out, and watching football. My husband and I are both big deer hunters, so we spend most of our fall and winter weekends out at the ranch if possible. I also love to read. I enjoy reading books for enjoyment and books to further enhance my knowledge on education.
Being a teacher is one of the most rewarding jobs, and I am so thankful that it is what I get to do every day. I strive to create a classroom community where every child feels safe, loved, and respected. I believe that when a child feels safe in their surroundings and they know that their teacher truly cares about them, great learning will take place. I look forward to working with you and your child in making this 2019-2020 school year a year your child won't forget.
