About Claudia Smith

How excited I am to be beginning my fifth year at UP Elementary. I am filled with Panther Pride each and every day, I’ve had a long career in academics that began 22 years ago in Northern California near Silicon Valley. All of my experience has centered around working with children in special education. It truly is a passion of mine.

I was born in Midland, Texas and I am the youngest of five girls. When I was a few months old, my family moved to the Bay Area where I resided in a small town called Atherton. As both of my parents were from Texas, I yearned to find my roots back in Texas where I attended SMU for my undergraduate studies. Following my years at SMU, I returned to California to get my Masters at UCLA.  Additionally, I am the proud mother of two amazing children.

I believe that all children have tremendous gifts and that it’s my job to help unlock their potential. We all learn differently, yet each of us has many strengths. It will be my honor and pleasure to help be the catalyst that precipitates your child’s growth.
