The American Heart Association will visit UP during Physical Education classes with the Heart Hero animals on February 6, 2019 to kick-off Kids Heart Challenge (formally Jump Rope for Heart)! The Kids Heart Challenge Event will run from February 6th- 22nd.
Students will enjoy a 3D ride through Heartsville which teaches us how easy it is to be our own Heart Hero and about living a heart-healthy lifestyle. They will also get the opportunity to do community service by raising money for research and education for heart disease! All Physical Education classes will be participating in Jump Rope activities during these 3 weeks. Students may raise money if they wish, but all fundraising is on a volunteer basis.
Our school has chosen to accept donations via online only! You won’t need to send in anything to show donations raised… we will be checking daily to see which students have raised donations and earned thank-you gifts! We hope you will join us as we work to help save lives and support the American Heart Association.
HOW TO BE A HEART HERO:
- Learn how to take care of your own heart. In PE, we’re learning the right steps to form heart-healthy habits by focusing on the American Heart Association’s FIVE FOR LIFE: Reducing Sugar Sweetened Beverages, Reducing Sodium, Increasing your Fruit & Vegetable Intake, Physical Activity & Saying NO to Tobacco.
- Help spread the message to friends and family and share how they can be more heart healthy.
- Students may ask for donations from friends and family to help support their fundraising efforts.
