About Ms. Savage

Hi, Panthers!

I am Barbara Savage and I am so happy to be here at University Park Elementary. I was born in Dallas and have lived here most of my life. I received a Bachelor’s degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas, both in Elementary Education. I have also taught 2nd and 3rd grade before coming to First Grade at UP in 1998.

I have two of the cutest rescue dogs, Stella and Sabrina, who entertain me with their many antics. When I’m not playing with my pups, I love to read, travel (especially to the beach), go to Dallas Stars games, and spend time with family and friends.

First grade is such an exciting year! The students grow so much, both academically and socially! It is such an amazing thing to watch, seeing changes almost daily! I hope to teach my students to love reading as much as I do. I want to help them become confident learners in all areas, willing to keep trying when things are difficult.
