About Mrs. Thompson
Welcome to Fourth Grade. My name is Rebecca Thompson, and I'm so excited to share this exciting year with you. We are finally “Home, Sweet Home!” This will be my twenty-second year of teaching. Before coming to University Park, I was a teacher for one year in the Irving Independent School District where I taught sixth grade English/Language Arts. From there, I went to Richardson ISD, where I taught sixth grade for 9 years at Greenwood Hills Elementary School.
I grew up in North Dallas and graduated from Richardson High School. I attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Gig 'Em, Aggies! Whoop! I completed my master's degree in Educational Technology Leadership at Lamar University and I graduated in May 2013. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mark, our family and friends, and my two precious Boston terrier children, Smitty and Junie B. I also love reading, traveling, experimenting in the kitchen, and going to movies.
I cannot wait to begin the 2018-2019 school year! I will be participating in the Moody Institute STEAM Program this year, and I can’t wait to share my learning and love of math and science with your 4th graders. Purposeful technology, experiencing and hands-on learning is my passion and I think Benjamin Franklin said it best: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I LEARN.” This is going to be a fabulous year of learning!!
