Spotlight on the 2nd Grade Inventors!  These innovative designers crafted a device to protect an egg from a two story drop!  All of their hard work pays off as two eggs survived the fall without any harm.  These are the inventors we want designing safety features in the future!  Two more teams will be ready to drop their eggs soon!
SPOTLIGHT ON 3RD:  Creativity takes on a new look with our "creativity ties" worn with pride showing off what makes each one of these students a special part of our group.  Trust me... you have never seen creativity like this group before!

TAG MATH PROJECT WEEK

This week in all three grade levels we are working in their class period to create a sequel to "Millions to Measure".  If you have ever wondered how many croissants stacked on top of one another would reach the height of the Eiffel Tower, or how many M&Ms it would take to fill up a blue whale, then your answers have arrived!  We are measuring to the millions and each child can pick their own question to research and answer.  I cannot wait to see how the final product turns out, but I can assure you every child from 2nd to 4th grade is working hard on their part to make the 2015-2016 TAG Math Millions to Measure Book a success!

Parent/Teacher Book Club

Let's try this again!  It appears that the link wasn't working so I had one parent test it out again today and it works!  If you tried last week to submit your vote and it didn't go through please try again.  This will also be the way I know who to contact when we set up meetings so be sure you follow the link and my fingers are crossed it will work this time.

Week of Sept. 8th- Sept. 11th

In case you had to miss out on all the fun this week, I have attached all of the curriculum day’s information so that everyone can feel in the loop.  Remember to subscribe to this webpage so that you will be notified when announcements occur.

Thank you for your time this week in meetings.  I really enjoyed talking with all of you and look forward to an exciting year ahead!

Week of August 31st- September 4th

TAG MATH

2nd Grade: Number sense, place value, and group problem solving challenge... All three groups worked together closely to keep the problem solving challenge within a one point difference so we will have to finish the game next week to see which group will prevail!  Thank you to parents who helped give helpful tips on homework.  The kids loved sharing the fun ways you can solve problems too!

3rd:  M3 Factors, multiples, and leftovers- Arrays cover most of the walls in the room now thanks to this active bunch!  Remember to keep practicing those math facts throughout this first unit!

4th:  Thank you to families who played the factor game with your 4th grader.  They worked really hard to be up for the challenge!  We had our own tournament in class ending with a final championship today, and the winner, Will, got to take home the coveted homework pass.  :)

TAG EXPLORATIONS

2nd: Introduction into inventors unit.  What do all inventors have in common?  Well we know that they must be curious, determined, dreamers who plan to change the world in some way!  I look forward to seeing what our second grade inventors have in mind...

3rd:  Creativity Ties will be made next class: please bring small artifacts that inspire creativity to next class.  Introduction to the heart unit will begin next class as well.  We practiced presentation skills and connecting with an audience this week which we will continue to build on in upcoming classes.

4th:  Introduction to Enigma unit.  These unexplained phenomenons may soon have the answers we have all been waiting for.  Investigations will begin next class!  Stay tuned...
